Nepal

Myagdi District (western Nepal) is home to a large number of child labourers.  Working as porters, domestic servants, and labourers, these children are subjected to long hours in hazardous working conditions and are extremely vulnerable to abuse.

Rural Environment & Empowerment Centre (REEC)
REEC is a local grassroots NGO which was established in 1998 by a group of self-motivated local residents to provide support to some of the most marginalised people living in Myagdi District, western Nepal, including child labourers, former child soldiers, women, and families from lower castes and ethnic groups.  Through a centrally located drop-in centre and outreach work throughout the district, REEC is currently working to prevent children engaging in child labour and support those children already working, through healthcare, counselling, legal aid, family reunification and alternative livelihoods support.
